"George Belcher enlisted in Capt. James Foster's Company, Fifteenth Virginia Regiment, Lt. Col. Innes commanding, Jan 20, 1777, and participated in the battles of Morristown, WHite Plains, Middle Brook and other engagements. he spent a winter at Valley Forge. Migrating to the then Floyd Co., Kentucky, now Pike Co., about 1805, he served as Floyd County Justice of the Peace. There is tradition that George Belcher went to Ohio in search of land and died there and was buried at North Bend, near Cincinnati...."198
